this has been one of the strangest weeks of my life... so get ready for a little adventure, ohio state style.

Just look at it and take it all in...
Script Ohio. Nothing in the entire world, except for maybe the national anthem sung by like a middle schooler at a basketball game, gives me goosebumps the same way as seeing the sousaphone player prance towards the middle of the field and dot the "i." Seeing this is the one thing I always look forward to seeing whenever I go to an OSU football game.
Last week, I did something for the first time that I have never done before... I missed Script Ohio. I know-ridiculous. I have been to at least 10 different Ohio State games, home and away, and I have NEVER ONCE missed this.
This experience was only the beginning of one of the weirdest weeks of my life.
The week began with rain...and lots of it. Similar to Forrest Gump and his experience in Vietnam, there was literally big 'ole fat rain, rain that came in sideways, stingin' rain, and rain that seemed to come up from the ground. No joke. I know you're probably not convinced, but just trust me on this one. But this was literally the first time that I have seen 5 straight days of rain since living in Florida.
Since it was raining all week, I pretty much spent most of my time at the new library we have on campus. Before I go any farther with my ridiculous-ness, this library is incredible: 11 floors, thousands of books, and even a delicious new cafe. In a nutshell (or a buckeye shell!) this place is awesome. But back to my story; so I go to the library and I find myself sitting in one of the new comfy chairs located in the main studying room, rain keeps knocking against the window frames, and the light seemed dimmer than usual, so I found myself falling asleep inside the library for the first time this year. If you're alarmed, don't be.
People fall asleep in libraries all the time. That's my only explanation for all the comfy couches and dimly lit corridors. There either there for ambiance or helping someone fall asleep. You may not believe me now, but once you go to college, you'll fall asleep in a library and think wow, that guy was right. But I digress.
So speaking of libraries, another first-time-event happened at the Main Library (The Thompson Library) at the end of the week. Since OSU had an away game at Indiana in the afternoon (rather than the normal 12:00 time) I thought it would be beneficial of me to try and get some work done, so I went there and got some work done.
Yes.
As if you were confused, the answer is yes. I did go to the library for the first time in my life on a Saturday; an Ohio State Gameday-Saturday. Call me a nerd, I won't be offended.
So by now you may be thinking, "Wow Michael what a strange week you had, I hope it ended well.." Thank you if this crossed your mind, if not, no worries you're in for a treat with my conclusion.
Yesterday, I was hanging out in my new favorite spot: the new library of course and I was just walking around trying to convince myself not to procrastinate and actually attempt to get something done. I spotted one of my friends I had a class with last year and walked over to where she was and started catching up. While we are talking, this stranger comes up to me and asks me if I write blogs and/or have the name Michael.
I was in complete and utter shock.
This kid not only knew who I was, but he actually recognized my face from my blog. This was the first time that I have actually been recognized for something that I have told literally no one about. It was so incredible to see that someone actually was willing to follow my shenanigans from start to finish...So this blog is a pretty much a build up to give Mr. Stranger a huge shout out and for making my day, night, week, and quarter. Oh and I also give a shout out to the girl I was talking to because without running awkwardly into her I would have never been graced by Mr. Stranger's purpose.
5 first-time-events happened to me this week and I have been at OSU for a year already. This story pretty much solidifies the fact that something new and exciting happens to me everyday on campus and that this statement is not just a overly drilled cliche that you hear when you go on a college tour.
I'm thinking at this point you should probably go listen to Lifehouse's song, "First Time" to put a lid on everything "first time" related. I normally don't finish my entries with artists and song titles, but hey there is a first time for everything.
