Good bye summer vacation...Time to bring on the start of a new year and a new mentality about succeeding at OSU, the sophomore style.
First off, I had to look up how to spell "auf widersehen" on Google, because had I gone with how I orignally thought the expression sounded, I would have offended:
- Germany
- The Sound of Music (and its fans)
- and the Von Trap Family
and anyone taking Germany classes because I thought it was spelled aud vertershen
But I digress.
This year I have a new mindset on school: I really want to be a nerd and I'm striving for perfection. In the same sense as "New Year Resolutions," I am now startin the Michael Haddock 1st Annual Collegiate "School Year Resolutions." As I write this entry from the Science and Engineering Library on OSU's campus, I have concluded that I am going to try to be
- more organized
- punctual (in terms of going to class on time rather than walking in 5 minutes into lecture)
- completely try to "out-nerd" myself from last year.
** Look at my progress already! I have made an organized list of what I want to accomplish.
I have a feeling, rather I have a dream, that this year will be a lot different. I'm going for the gold.
(Not that I am hanging by a thread metaphorically in terms of progress from last year or anything, I just have this solid mindset right now that I want to do exceedingly well this quarter)
Having already established myself as a dork/nerd/all the above, I really have no idea how I am going to make this statement. However, with a new school year and a new title comes a new sense of responsiblity and action and hopefully this mindset can last me through the entire year.
Because if I know one thing about resolutions, it's that they never get accomplished and are always pushed into the next year and added to the list again. Oh no, I can feel the procrastination already creeping up on me.
This is going to be a long year.
