Winding down at the end of a long week is easier said than done...but it's never too late to learn.
After a KILLER week of exams, I decided to try my hand at having some fun tonight. I met a friend at Noodles and Company—sooo good! I love when businesses twist the concept of “fast food” into something delicious and at least moderately healthy.
After that, I went to see an old resident from last year, Christie. Christie is from China and it is always so fascinating to swap stories about our different cultures. It turns out she is applying to be a Resident Advisor! It’s great to see former residents aspiring to the RA position. We spent some time chatting about the job.
I was planning on spending the night studying, but a current resident and old friend from jazz band, Jason, invited me over to hang out with some other Buckeye Village folks. We watched “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” and enjoyed some Halloween candy.
Jason told me I really need to stop working so hard and hang out with the residents more—beyond my multi-tasking method of just meeting people while I’m on the Buckeye Village bus. It’s true—I mean, how lucky am I that a big part of my job is just shooting the breeze with my peers? When I talked to Christie, I seemed to forget that part.
Tonight was so much fun, and it was a great way to celebrate the end of a long week. I’m going to make an effort for the rest of the quarter to try to heed the advice of my resident.
